Emily declared back in May: "I'm trying to get in the habit of making a note of at least one interesting or unusual or nice thing that happened to me everyday, so I can look back on my life when I'm 80 and not feel like it was all a waste."
I keep meaning to do the same, because it's a great goal, and it ends up being pretty interesting to look back over. But so far, I haven't been terribly successful. Or at all. However, back in the day, I used to be pretty good. (True story: I have been writing in various places on the internets for at least five years now. Someday I may compile my various archives together. But probably not, as they are rather embarassing.) So today I was poking around ye olde web-diary, and learned that exactly four years ago today, I:
- played catch in the park with my ex-boyfriend Matt, his roommate David, and Daniel, while hung over
- drove through Lexington to Trader Joe's (which at the time was a much more exciting destination for me than it is today)
- checked out an apartment above Cappy's Pizza, which thankfully I did not rent
- heard Paul Simon's song "Obvious Child" for the very first time
- saw the lovely and talented Karaugh Brown play at the campus coffeehouse, Chum's (the inspiration for Central Perk)
- intended to see (but never made it there) Ari's sister Leah in a production of Rocky Horror
What's crazy is that with just a few details to prompt me, I can remember almost everything about that day -- the chairs in the apartment, Matt's new car, Mary standing behind the counter at Chum's, basically everything except what prevented me from going to Rocky Horror. Maybe it's time to starting writing things down again.
